Homemade Apple Crisp with Gluten Free Graham Cracker Crumbs

All products are: gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, nut-free.

Gluten Free Things Graham Cracker Crumbs

For this recipe, I used apples we picked on property of friends, so not sure what variety, but any apple will compliment the combined flavors of this delightful autumn-infused gluten recipe.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Peel, core and slice:
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 Red Delicious or Other Variety Apples
Mix together the following:
  • 1 tsp Guar Gum
  • 1/4 cup gluten free all purpose flour mix
  • 1/3 cup sugar or sugar substitute
  • 1/8 tsp ground all spice.
  • 1 TBSP fresh lemon juice
Add to the apples and mix all to coat well.   Place apple mixture in oiled or sprayed square baking dish – or pie plate.    Bake 30 minutes.
In the meantime, mix well together:
  • 3/4 cup Gluten Free Things – Graham Cracker Crumbs
  • 1/4 cup walnut pieces or pecan pieces
  • 1/4 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp powdered ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves

Add to the mixture:
chilled unsalted butter
1 stick chilled unsalted butter
Cut into small chunks
Add butter to the crumb mixture and with fingers, pinch and mix into the crumb mixture until you have a soft mass of well combined crumbles and butter.
When the apples have baked 30 to 40 minutes and appear soft, remove from oven and spread the crumble mixture over the apples,
Increase oven temp to 375 degrees and put the apples and crumb mixture back in the oven for 15 minutes.   The mixture should be bubbly and hot when you remove it.
Let cool and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
